Public Journalism
_Public journalism predicates its practice on the thesis that the crisis of modern democracy is
inextricably woven with the decline of the public and of its advocate,
the press. This paper focuses on the works of John Dewey, Jurgen Habermas and James Carey that form the theoretical core of public journalism and considers the critical assessments of public journalism practice in the US.

Vietnam Era Reportage
__This research proposal suggests that the controversy surrounding Harrison Salisbury's groundbreaking reports from Hanoi, though factually verified, stepped beyond the "realm of acceptable controversy" (Hallin, The Uncensored War, The Media and Vietnam, 1986) subjecting the New York Times reporter and editor to vitriolic reaction from his contemporaries in the press.
